Basic information about MBBS admission




Eligibility For Admission to MBBS in India




- He/She shall complete the age of 17 years on or before 31st December, of the year
admission to the MBBS course.
- He shall pass the qualifying exam for entry of medical college:
- He/she must have 10+2 equivalent education with the subjects of Physics,

Chemistry, Biology & English individually
- Must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry

and Biology
- In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes or Other

Backward classes, the marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry and Biology taken
together in qualifying examination be 40% instead of 50% as above.
- Student should also pass entrance exam of respective state education system or

deem university entrance system.
- Student can take entry in Medical college through the Pre-medical entrance exam at

any time after 12th exam.
- Student can take admission in private medical college in management quota or Non-

resident Indian (NRI) quota at any time after 12 science exam but he must passed
12th with 50% marks in subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

There are 300 medical colleges in India. Gujarat has six Government medical colleges (Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Surat, Jamnagar, Bhavnagar and Rajkot), three municipal medical colleges (two ahmedabad and one Surat) and four private medical colleges (Karamsad, Piparia, Bhuj and Amargardh); thus total 13 medical colleges. Out of above three colleges are started last year and they are Bhuj, Amargardh and Ahmedabad municipal college. These colleges are under permission category. The controlling body Medical Council of India has permitted them to start college. They will get final recognition at the end of five and half year.

But exciting news for Gujarat students is that this year Gujarat Government is going to start four new colleges at Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Patan and Valsad. So keep ready to study in Gujarat.

About MBBS course

This is five and half year course. Four and half years are for study and one year is internship. The student is getting two degree Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.
