This is unique scheme for PG student to do good research in emerging filed of Medicine / Dental or super specialist study. 

Like undergraduate ICMR-STS, Indian apex body of research in medical science ICMR has the scheme for research promotion in emerging area for postgraduate students, named as "Financial Support for MD/MS/DM/MCh/ DNB/ MDS Thesis".

The scheme will provide financial support of 50,000 INR (Fifty thousand Indian Rupee) to selected candidates. Every year they will give 100 such awards in two slots, 50 in month off June and 50 in Dec every year.

Eligibility of application - Indian Medical or Dental student is eligible, who is perusing for postgraduate studies are eligible.

Age limit - Student should be younger than 45 years at time of application.

Only Indian citizen can apply and Aadhar card is required at time of payment.

Application procedure - 

Every year in the month of June and December the application window will open for one month for registration and application of proposal submission. 

Student must apply within 12 months of joining institute for PG studies. 

Application must route through Head of Department and Dean of Medical college or Dental College.    

Student is required to keep some documents to be ready 

1. A copy of the thesis submitted to University/Institute as a part of the postgraduate program will be submitted to ICMR. (Format is available with InfoMBBS software)

2. Undertaking form 

3. Mandate form

Keep in mind the ICMR has decided to some priority area for research. They are as following

1. Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR)
2. Tuberculosis
3. HIV/AIDS
4. Malaria
5. Diabetes
6. Maternal and Child Health.
7. Maternal and Child Health.

About ICMR_STS

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is the apex body of Government of India Health Department and working quality research for country. The one of objective of ICMR is to promote the research culture among young mind also. The ICMR-STS is implemented to achieve this objective. 

ICMR has initiated this program in 1979 to promote research culture among medical undergraduate students. Later they added dental students also. 

This year ICMR-STS is implemented recently after one year break due to Covid19 pandemic. This year 1500 students will receive the studentship award including 300 BDS dental students. 

Process of ICMR-STS registration - Everything is online process

First step is to get register online on portal - time of registration is 20th Dec 2022 to 16th Jan 2023 till 11.59 pm

Submission to portal full proposal will open 20th Dec 2022 and end by 27th Jan 2023 11.59 pm

The interested students should register and submit full proposal online before time. 

Results of award will be announced on last week March 23 or first week of April 2023. 

After that awardee students have to start work with ethical permission and all other steps to finish research as per plan. This research work has to finish during April 2023 to Sept 2023. 

The student has to finish analysis and submit report by 31st Oct 2023.

The successfully completed students will receive certificate through institute and cash award of   50,000=00 (Fifty thousand) in his her account. 

The E-Certificates will be distributed in three categories on the basis of evaluation

1.STS Excellence Certificate for Grade A Outstanding for highest distinction

2.  STS Excellence Certificate for Grade B - Excellent with high distinction

3. STS completion certificate for grade C & D as satisfactory
