Hope for Online Counseling for MBBS admission under Pre-Medical seats – SC says to MCI

Hope for Online Counseling for MBBS admission under Pre-Medical seats – SC says to MCI

Yesterday Supreme Court asked MCI to look the proposal of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for online counseling for allotment of more than 2000 MBBS and BDS seats all over India for academic session 2012-13. As NewDelhi is the core center for 15% of seats allotment in various colleges of country. So that the students has to travel long distance for inpersonal counseling. Till date the students have to travel to metros like Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai for counseling through video conferencing. Last year DGHS has conducted counseling for more than 4000 students for 2194 seats.
The advantages of online counseling told by DGHS to court that it is faceless but still full of transparency. It will cost almost nil for the candidate and time saved for the parents of student. There  will be less number of seats go vacant. In in-personal counseling large number of seats were remain vacant even after two round of counseling. Here in online counseling large number of students will able to participate and minimum seats will remain vacant.
Salient features of Online counseling
-          All students who qualify in entrance exam can participate in counseling or five times the number of seats students can participate in counseling.
-          Qualified students can give option for course and college online.
-          There are three round of counseling than traditional two rounds.
-          After first round, the provisional letter of allotment will be issued to students with college name. The student has to report to the college within 10days. College will verify the details and give admission.
-          The students who will failed to reach college within 10 days, will be removed form the list and not eligible for admission for the year.
-          The student who confirm admission in the college, has chance to upgrade the college in next round.
-          The online counseling will be done with help of National Informatics Center who is conducting online counseling for AIEEE.
So hope and pray God that tomorrow MCI will accept the proposal
Best
