Department of Nutrition to fight against Malnutrition


In recent past, there were many reports from international agencies on Indian malnutrition status. All reports have poor indices for country. They kept India below countries like Sudan and Zimbabwe in Global Hunger Index.

Looking to all these report PM office of India suddenly came in action in last few days and the Prime Minister’s Council on India’s Nutritional Challenges met in New Delhi. The meeting was conducted under chairmanship of Dr. Manmohan Singh and attended by agriculture minister Sharad Pawar, Rural development minster C. P. Joshi , Planning commission deputy chairmen Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Women development minister with other.

The group has decided to make Department of Nutrition under Women and Child development ministry. The group also decided to take Integrated Child Development Programme (ICD) in mission mode in full gear with time bound targets.  A special scheme will be designed for children less that 2 years and pregnant mother to fight malnutrition.

Medicon 2011 - a conference for medical students


Grand Medical College and Sir J J Group of hospitals, Mumbai is hosting the 5th international annual conference for under graduate medical students - MEDICON 2011. the conference is going to be part of INFORMER (The forum of medcal students Research, India). It will be between 12th - 14th Feb 2011.
All medical students should participate in this conference. They are going to provide platform for young research mind students.
