The Medical Council of India has finally put notification on its web and decided to go for the single entrance cum eligibility tests for undergraduate medical course. The test which is named as National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Under Graduate Courses (NEET-UG) and will be implemented from the academic session 2013.
Even after lots of opposed view from states like Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and even Gujarat, MCI has managed to gain necessary notifications. The first notification came 21st Dec 2010, where it was mentioned that the student has to take NEET to get admission in medical college. As per this notification it is clearly mentioned that student should obtain 50% percent marks in each paper of NEET exam in said year. The student form Schedule cast (SC), schedule Tribe (ST) and other backward class (OBC) has to obtained 40% marks in NEET.
But on 15th Feb 2012 there is new notification with amendment. As per this new notification the MCI has clarify that ‘In order to be eligible for admission in MBBS course for particular academic year, it shall be necessary for a candidate to obtain minimum marks at 50th percentile in NEET for MBBS course’. This is the key amendment. They have changed from the 50 percent to the 50th percentile. This is going to affect lot many students. This percentile for SC, ST and OBC is lower up to 40th percentile and for locomotor disable people it will be 45th percentile.
Thus the year 2013 will be the benchmark for major changes in medical education. But still there are many unanswered questions like
1. MCI did not clarify in notification the language of test. But we are hearing there will be only two language English and Hindi. This is injustice for local students. The main reason of oppose is the language. The parent association is demanding the test should be in local language. MCI should consider this point.
2. What will happen to the management quota of the private medical college? Do they have to take students form NEET 50th percentile only? No clear answer.
3. What will happen the NRI quota of medical seats? Do they need to appear? Till date NRI are not appearing in any test. They are getting direct admission.
4. What is the fate of Deemed University? They are taking there own exams. Will that stop? What will be the admission procedure in such university linked colleges?
There is nothing mentioned about the Donation which private college are taking.......R they really helping to student?

ReplyDeleteWho has an answer to this? Many tutors are providing NEET coaching classes abroad but are unable to answer this question on eligibility.
Parents have studied in India and still hold valid Indian passports ....who would have answer to this?
NEET exams for NRI (Indian passport holders)students studied in CBSE schools abroad, are they eligible? If yes, will they be paying FEES like resident Indians?

ReplyDeleteThe Mci kindly take neccesary steps to implement this common entrance test to bring into practise in all states as to retain the quality of medical education as many of our politicians are selling the divine profession for their prosperity.now it has become a prestigious degree rather than a life saving degree.As it has become a prestigious degree they are ready to spend more than crores to get a degree so when they are qualified as a doctor they started to doing the profession as a business even unethically.
