Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is pleased to announce the launch of a Social Innovation Immersion Programme (SIIP) Fellowship under SPARSH. Funded by BIRAC (Dept. of Biotechnology, Govt. of India), the objective of the SPARSH program is promoting product innovation and solutions in the arena of Maternal and Child Health (MCH). The program aims to bring significant social impact by addressing challenges of inclusive growth. THSTI will identify a mutli-disciplinary team of innovation Fellows (BIRAC-THSTI Social Innovators), and provide them with immersion opportunities, training, mentoring and other resources necessary for implementing social innovations in MCH. 
What does the SIIP Fellowship offer?
The goal of the Fellowship is to foster a pool of social innovators in the MCH arena and to train them to become successful innovators. The Fellowship will run for duration of eighteen (18) months. During this time, the team of fellows will be taken through a spectrum of home-based, community, primary, secondary and tertiary health setups in the National Capital Region (NCR). Fellows will be trained in the Biodesign process of innovation to examine unmet clinical and social needs in the area of Maternal and Child Health. For the purpose of immersion and mentoring, the program will provide access to ASHA workers through the NRHM, and to faculty collaborators from Gurgaon General Hospital, Maulana Azad Medical College, AIIMS, Safdarjang and Kalavati Saran Children Hospital. Based on the top unmet social and clinical needs identified, the programs will encourage product or service innovations in MCH to serve patients at the neglected tail of healthcare.
The Fellowship will offer a consolidated package of INR 45,000/month for the duration of the program. Additionally, the program will cover medical insurance and all Fellowship-related travel for the team. At the end of the immersion phase and on successful submission of a proposal, the social innovators will be eligible for a “kick-start” grant of INR five (5) Lakhs/ Fellow to demonstrate proof-of-concept of their solutions. THSTI, with its partners, will provide dedicated mentoring time with clinical and Biodesign faculty, structured training in innovation management, social enterprise entrepreneurship and networking opportunities with clinicians and translational experts to the BIRAC-THSTI Social Innovators

Eligibility 
THSTI is recruiting a cross-disciplinary team of innovators consisting of 4 members with backgrounds in Engineering, Technology, Design, Medicine, Community Health, or Social Work. Candidates should indicate an aptitude to relate and adapt to healthcare systems across differing degrees of resources, patient populations and community settings. Preference will be given to candidates who have a track record of involvement or experience in social work or public health. Applicants demonstrating innovation initiatives in rural and community medicine, non-governmental organizations and frugal or affordable innovation, design, product or service development will have a competitive advantage.
The institute invites applications at post-graduate (M.Sc./M.Tech./ M.B.B.S.) post-doctoral (M.D./Ph.D.) levels.In exceptional cases, Bachelors level candidates or those from non-technical (e.g. social work or MBA) backgrounds may also be considered. Applications from qualified women candidates are encouraged as we envision that they will add to the strength of the team working in the MCH arena.
